Meng Wanzhou - Huawei's CFO

On Sunday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry asked US ambassador Terry Branstad to lodge a contest over the arrest of Huawei's CFO and demanded the US to withdraw its arrest warrant.

Chinese Foreign Minister, Le Yucheng, has emphasized that future action will depend on decisions and actions of The US. The arrest of Meng has provoked global markets because it could escalate the ongoing trade war between China and the US.

Meng Wanzhou - chief financial officer of China's Huawei was accused of covering up Huawei's relationship with another company, known to have tried to do business in Iran despite US sanctions . Huawei is a manufacturer of smart phones and telecommunication equipments in China. The company recently surpassed Apple, rising to become the world's second-largest smartphone vendor after Samsung.

Founder of this phone company, Ren, is an engineer in the Chinese military and his close relationship with the Communist Party has become an international concern. Huawei insists they have not received any spying requests from the Chinese government.

On Friday, Huawei spokesman said the company believes that the laws of Canada and the United States will make the right conclusion for this incident.
