Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference will take place on June 3, the company confirmed.
On Thursday, the Cupertino-based firm said that its annual WWDC is set to take place at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California, which is in its 30th year. It is likely that a keynote featuring Apple CEO Time Cook will fall on June 3, and the developer conference will last from then through June 7.

This is the third time the iPhone maker has chosen San Jose to host this event. This is the third biggest city in California and the tenth biggest in the US, located over 80 kilometers south of San Francisco and just more than 16 kilometers from Apple’s Cupertino-based headquarters.
At WWDC, Apple traditionally goes into details about its newest software that will come to its offerings later in the year. While the firm is most famous for hardware, the way it seamlessly integrates its hardware and software has set it apart from the other players. The ability to control its products’ every aspect, from the beginning with co-founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, has been the key to make Apple the most tech company.

This year event comes in a time when Apple is raising its focus and priority for services and software. Although the company is still selling millions of iPhones each quarter, unit sales are not going up like in the past. Smartphones users are holding longer onto their devices, which means monthly paid services become an important source for profit. For the past couple of years, the iPhone maker has focused on mobile payments, augmented reality, music streaming, and other areas.
Today, about 1.4 billion devices are running MacOS, iOS, TVOS, WatchOS, bringing massive profits to the company’s service business. As of December quarter, Apple experienced a 19 percent growth in this business with a record $10.9 billion.
On March 25 event held at the Steve Jobs Theater, besides unveiling its new TV streaming and news services, Apple will make other important announcements.
And for the WWDC, the company intends to offer as many as 350 WWDC scholarships to students. In 2018, student developers came to the conference from 41 countries with a free ticket and accommodation.
