After Amazon, Google, and Facebook, Apple Is Elizabeth Warren’s Next Target

Elizabeth Warren wanted to break up big tech companies like Amazon, Google, and Facebook. Now, Apple is her next target.

On Saturday, Elizabeth Warren, a Massachusetts Senator, and candidate for the 2020 presidential election shocked people when stating she wanted to break up some US-based tech giants including Google, Facebook, and Amazon.

Now, Apple is reportedly her next target. This makes sense as Apple belongs to a platform utility with global annual revenues of over $25 billion.

Particularly, Warren thinks that Apple should not be allowed to run its Apple App Store and at the same time distribute apps in it.

In an interview with The Verge, she said:

Warren proposed to pass a legislation grouping companies offering platforms, exchanges, or marketplaces with over $25 billion in global annual revenues as “platform utilities.”

On Saturday, she wrote on Medium:

What this means is that companies like Amazon, for instance, would no longer be able to put its AmazonBasics products for sale on its marketplace. Under Warren’s proposal, the same rule is applied to Apple.
