How To ‘Hide’ And ‘Unhide’ Messages On WhatsApp

The Facebook-backed platform has worked on various features to satisfy current users as well as leverage its user base. Recently, it introduced some new features like group invites, self-destructing messages, and saver options – but out of all these useful features, WhatsApp still lacks a significant mechanism: the capability to hiding specific chat boxes.

In fact, many other platforms allow users to keep their messages in private, so it should be seen as a significant feature, rather than being an additional option. Don’t worry, we’re here to find another way to hide WhatsApp messages in both iOS and Android devices. First revealed by Business Insider, we can take advantage of a built-in feature to hide unexpected messages.

To hide a WhatsApp chat, Android users need to choose a certain chatbox they want to disappear and then hold it for a little while. After that, you can see the Archive option. For those who use iOS, you can swipe right on that chat to display the Archive feature. If done, that chat box will get archived and be invisible in the current chat list.

In case you want to reload or unhide this stuff, navigate to the foot of the app to find the “Archived” menu, tap on it and then there’ll be archived chats you’ve hidden. To un-archive them, press on any chat or make a right swipe (for iOS) and choose the “un-archive” option.

This "Archive" feature looks like a way for you to stop eyeing on unexpected chat boxes, so please keep in mind that it's not enough to be a tool for privacy.
