Google Plans To Shut Down Its Google Hangouts App In 2020

After years of launching the Google Hangouts app, now Google intends to stop its app and service in 2020. The news comes from the 9to5Google site.

According to the 9to5Google site, the Google Hangouts is predicted to be stopped by 2020, the report also indicates the roadmap for this decision.

Google Hangouts was operated to replace the Google Gchat in 2013, but the company stopped supporting some features on the app and did not attend to this SMS message service.

However, Google Hangouts is still a chat feature inside the Gmail service on the Web platform as well as the Google Play Store.

In March last year, Google informed that Google Hangouts was split into 2 apps: Hangouts Chat and Hangouts Meet. From that information, the Google started winding down support for the version of Hangouts service. Google canceled the SMS support from the app in the previous May. Google Hangouts also hasn’t got any significant updates for the period, and many fastidious users reported bugs and errors.
