Design
There isn’t much space to be creative in designing a tablet. In most cases, a tablet is made of either metal or plastic, with wither square or rounded edges. The Galaxy Tab S7+ is no exception though it does have high-end components as well as a lot of attention to detail.
It features a brushed aluminum unibody, its back is flat with no curved parts. Its sides are so flat that you can leave it standing on any side. The brushed finish looks good but also maintains fingerprints.
The display is surrounded by a black bezel that’s thick enough so you can comfortably hold the device in your hands. The top bezel houses a front-facing camera in the center.
There is an under-display fingerprint scanner near the bottom or on the right depending on how you are holding the tablet. You’ll be glad to know that the sensor works fast and accurately.
On the back, the two rear cameras share a glass piece with an LED flash. Next to the camera module is a magnetic holder for the S-Pen. Once you move the stylus close to the strip, it will click on the holder nicely. The pointy end should point towards the lenses or the stylus won’t likely charge or stick properly.
Each short side of the tablet houses two speakers while there is a microphone on the left side and a USB-C port on the right side. On the bottom side, there are pins for the Keyboard Cover, and on the top side, there is a power button along with the volume keys, the MicroSD slot, and a second microphone.
Performance
The Galaxy Tab S7 Plus is powered by the Snapdragon 865+, the best Qualcomm processor available for an Android device. With this chipset, the Tab S7+ is the fastest Android table you can find right now. But how does it compare to the iPad?
In fact, Apple's CPUs still do a very good job, making its tablets the best in the market. On GeekBench 5.1, the 2020 12.9-inch iPad Pro gets 4,709 multi-core points while the Tab S7+ gets only 2,690 multi-core points. Even the 2018 12.9-inch iPad Pro outperforms the Tab S7+ with 4584 multi-core points. Regarding the single-core score on GeekBench 5.1, the 2020 iPad Pro model gets 1121 points, the 2018 iPad Pro model gets 1113 points, and the Tab S7+ gets just 959 points.
On AnTuTu 8, the Tab S7+ has a higher score than the 2018 12.9-inch iPad Pro, 566786 points as opposed to 544871. However, the 2020 iPad Pro still gets a higher score at 750621 points.
Despite the score on the paper, the real-life performance or speed doesn’t really differ among these tablets. You won’t likely notice any differences in how games run between the iPad Pros and the Tab S7 Plus.
Cameras
The tablet takes nice daylight photos. The resolved details are generally good except for areas with high complexity like the grass and foliage. Thanks to the Auto HDR support, the cameras deliver an excellent dynamic range. The colors are accurate and there’s little noise as well.
The front camera takes decent photos. Though the detail is quite poor, the dynamic range and the colors are great. It delivers the average amount of detail as well as proficient separation.
Low-light shots have good detail, featuring preserved colors. The Night Mode in the Tab S7 Plus doesn’t do much to help with photographing.
In terms of selfies, the photos taken by the Tab S7+ show enough detail with punchy colors, but the focus seems to fall on the background instead of the subject.
Battery life
The 10,090mAh battery allows the tablet to last 7 hours, 49 minutes of web browsing, the average duration for tablets. If you play videos continuously, the tablet will last 12 hours, 11 minutes.
