A company from the UK has sparked controversy for marketing glass bottles containing the “freshest coastal air.” These bottles are sold at an absurd price, $105.
Coast Capture Air began selling bottled fresh air as a souvenir. But people from polluted areas around the world started purchasing these bottles to inhale the clean coastal air. They even told the company that these bottles helped counter air pollution’s harmful effects. So the company kept on selling them at a staggering price for an empty glass bottle.

To be honest, Coast Capture Air isn’t the world’s only company to sell air. You may have read about brands like Vitality Air selling Canadian Rocky Mountains fresh air or Air de Montcuq with fresh air from the French countryside. And there are more companies in the canned/bottled air businesses. But the difference between Coast Capture Air and these companies is its price.
A 700ml bottle with air inside costs over $100. It is too expensive considering there is nothing in the bottle but air. And you don’t even know if it is a genuine product. Coast Capture Air does emphasize on efforts of the company and its staff in getting the finest coastal air in Cornwall.

According to the company, the air inside each bottle is in its purest form, taken directly from the unspoiled natural coastlines of the UK. The chosen locations are mostly rural, unpolluted by machinery or human. They are also remote and hard to reach. Cornish Coast and Hartland Point are two of these locations.
Interestingly, on its website, Coast Capture Air even has a section that directs consumers on how to inhale its fresh coastal air. You should find a quiet place, blow your nose to clear your nasal cavity, and breathe in from the diaphragm instead of your chest. After you are don’t inhaling, don’t forget to put the cork back to prevent the expensive air from escaping.

At $105, a Coast Capture Air bottle of fresh air is the second most expensive one. At the number one spot is Switzerland’s Genuine Mountain Air at $167 per bottle. The air is reportedly taken from a secret location in the Alps.
