Over 1 Million Users Are Now Using Airtel WiFi Calling

On January 10, Bharti Airtel, one of India’s most used telecom networks, announced that the number of its WiFi Calling users has crossed one million.

On January 10, Bharti Airtel, one of India’s most used telecom networks, announced that the number of its WiFi Calling users has crossed one million. The feature is supported on more than 100 smartphones from 16 different brands.

According to the company, this new feature makes use of advanced technology to enhances smartphone users’ indoor voice calling experience.

It creates a specific channel for voice calls using WiFi networks and it lets customers make telco-grade calls to other networks. Customers can easily switch between normal calling and Airtel WiFi calling.

In a statement, the company’s CTO, Randeep Sekhon, said that it was delighted to find that many customers were feeling satisfied with Airtel WiFi Calling. For Airtel mobile customers, the technology had helped transform the indoor network quality, especially in areas with high population density.

In India, Airtel was the first to implement the service. Customers of the telecom provider could use any WiFi for this feature.

With WiFi Calling, customers do not have to pay for any extra charge. And the application requires minimal data.

Customers can use the WiFi Calling feature on their smartphones without having to install any additional calling app or getting a new SIM card.

Jio was the next telecom provider to offer WiFi Calling service. The service was launched on the same day as Airtel. The company stated that customers can use this feature on over 150 smartphone models.
