Samsung Galaxy M31 Review: Quad Rear Cameras & Massive 6,000mAh Battery

Samsung Galaxy M31 is a new mid-range smartphone by Samsung with quad rear cameras, Exynos 9611 SoC, and 6,000mAh battery. Here is our initial Samsung Galaxy M31 review.

Unlike the Galaxy A series with many new technologies and eye-catching design, the Galaxy M has a large battery capacity, decent hardware configuration, and affordable price. To increase competition in the mid-range segment in the first half of 2020, Samsung introduced the Samsung Galaxy M31 in India earlier this month. It is mainly upgraded in terms of battery, configuration, and camera in comparison to its predecessors.

Samsung Galaxy M31 is Samsung's latest mid-range smartphone.

The most noticeable difference between the Galaxy M31 and its predecessor is the quad-camera system placed in a rectangular cluster like the Galaxy S20. The setup includes a 64 MP main camera with f / 1.8 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens with a 123-degree field of view, a 5 MP macro camera, and 5 MP portrait camera. This camera system is made slightly convex, not significant.

The Galaxy M31 uses the top of the U-shaped screen like many models in the price range. It has a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED panel, that supports Full-HD + resolution.
It has a relatively thick bezel at the bottom.

The back of this model uses a glossy plastic material, which is prone to sweat and fingerprints. Besides, this material makes it difficult to clean the device.

The top bezel is much thinner.

Hardware configuration of the Galaxy M31 includes Exynos 9611 processor, 6 GB RAM, and 128 GB storage. The device boots Android 10 with One UI 2 running on top. The device is equipped with a 6,000 mAh battery, that charges with 15W fast charging technology over a USB Type-C port. According to Samsung, the battery on this phone can give enough fuel for 26 hours of watching videos or 119 hours of continuous listening to music.

While some models under Rs. 20,000 already have an in-screen fingerprint sensor, the Galaxy M31 still uses a one-touch fingerprint sensor mounted on the back. The device also supports face unlock technology, for fast and accurate unlocking speed.

Camera UI of the device is still the same as its predecessor with the normal and ultra-wide-angle modes. Besides, this model is still integrated with AI features, professional shooting, portrait mode ... and wide-angle video recording capability. This feature will be useful for Vlogger and YouTuber who often shoot travel videos. However, users can not switch between normal and wide-angle mode during video recording like the Galaxy Note10.

Galaxy M31 is sold in India at Rs. 14,999 for 6GB RAM / 64GB storage model. In the price range of less than Rs. 20,000, Samsung's new smartphone competes with Oppo A91, Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, or Vivo S1 Pro. The Galaxy M31 has the advantage of large battery capacity, good display, several features inherited from high-end devices ...
