While Apple may get some impressive features, they have had to admit that their iPhone XS Max and XS still had some issues. The good thing is that Apple managed to get most of the issues fixed but some new tests show that there is still one problem which Apple cannot deal with.
A popular Youtube channel PhoneBuff seeks for the robotics’ help and found out that for the impressive CPU performance of the Apple’s iPhone XS and XS Max, their battery lives are just a mess, the iPhone XS Max in particular.
iPhone XS & iPhone XS Max are claimed to have a battery life issue
What PhoneBuff managed to discover is that the Apple’s iPhone XS Max, one of the biggest and most expensive phones Apple ever made, could not get the same level of battery life of its rival: Samsung Galaxy Note 9. The fact is even more surprising as the Note 9 of Samsung still stayed at the battery life of 37% while the iPhone XS Max already ran out of battery.
This can be a shocking news for a few reasons.
Firstly, iPhone XS Max’s battery has a 20% smaller capacity compared to the Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 which are 3,174mAh and 4,000mAh respectively. Secondly, Samsung’s Note 9 is equipped with a higher resolution display and driving pixels is one of the most demanding things a smartphone does.
And thirdly, the Snapdragon 845 chipset of the Galaxy Note 9 is considered to be less efficient the Apple 12 chipset of the iPhone XS Max.
All of those leads to software which Apple claims its iOS 12 to be the fastest and also the most efficient version of iOS. Well, the tests proved otherwise.
The thing that makes the tests interesting is that attention to detail of the test conductor - PhoneBuff. The duration of the test for battery life conducted by Phone is one year. It conducted the test in a temperature controlled environment and Phonebuff also calibrated speaker volumes and the screen brightness of both smartphones to be the same.
Moreover, a robotic arm was used in the process to ensure the identical app usage, reaction times, and also taps’ pattern as the robotic arm navigates through messaging, social media, phone calls, web browsing, gaming, and video tests.
This battery life test is conducted in a close to a real-world situation.
The test shows that Apple’s iPhone XS has shorter battery life compared to the iphone XS Max version, those Apple phones are a bit behind in the competition as there is hardly any way for them to close the gap just through its software updates. And the worse thing is the Galaxy Note 9 is not the Android phone that has the best battery life.
So if you are planning to get yourself an iPhone now, then the new iPhone XR is a pretty good choice as it is not only the one of the cheapest and most interesting but also has a longer battery life as well.
