Reliance Jio Plans To Launch An Affordable Large-Screen Smartphone

Reliance Jio prepares to launch a smartphone with large screen size as an upgrade for Indian users from feature phones to 4G-enabled smartphones.

After the launch of JioPhone, the success of the feature phone has given telecommunications operator Reliance Jio a positive and potential look in the low-cost smartphone market. Reliance Jio prepares to launch a smartphone with large screen size as an upgrade for Indian users from feature phones to 4G-enabled smartphones. Moreover, this smartphone line will bring affordable prices to serve a large number of citizens with low income.

Jio extends its market share to smartphones

Sunil Dutt, Jio's head of sales and channel development, told ET that the company is targeting clients who are not yet able to use 4G smartphones because of the high price. JioPhone is trying to collaborate with partners to produce big screen smartphones at an affordable price. Currently, JioPhone is negotiating with Flex to produce 100 million smartphones in the domestic area. Flex is an American contract manufacturer, with good manufacturing and processing quality.

JioPhone currently has the desire to extend its market share through targeting customers who are currently using feature phones. This helps many people to use smartphones with better connectivity and better communication.

The number of feature phone users in India is up to 500 million. The only incentive to get them to switch from feature phones to smartphones is that the cost must be reduced to meet their budget.

In addition, Jio also partnered with other famous smartphone manufacturers such as Samsung, Apple, and Xiaomi to provide users with bundled data and voice plans. However, launching affordable smartphones will help push the company even further.

According to Dutt, billions of people are using mobile devices without good data connections or rich content. JioPhone brings them innovation and helps them experience more services as well as more content, such as watching television, videos, listening to music, etc. It allows users to access to YouTube, WhatsApp, and even Facebook.

Dutt said the company wanted to target markets where people cannot afford or do not have the option to take risks and buy a smartphone due to their own higher priorities.

LYF does not bring as much as expected

Reliance Digital - Jio's sister brand, launched a number of LYF-branded 4G smartphones, at the time Jio stepped into the phone market. Although these phones range in price from Rs 3,000 to Rs 20,000, they did not earn as much as the manufacturer expected.

Perhaps the upcoming developments will be pretty amazing when the company brings a new breeze into the low-cost smartphone market for all Indians.
