In a recent test carried out by Tom’s guide, nine different smart phones with the same screen brightness of 150 nits were constantly used 4G to surf the Internet. The results show that Apple iPhone XS and XS Max are not being able to keep up with many other leading Android phones.
Type of smartphone | Battery life | |
1 | iPhone XS | 9h 41m |
2 | iPhone XS Max | 10h 38m |
3 | OnePlus | 11h 22m |
4 | Samsung Galaxy Note | 11h 26m |
5 | Google Pixel 2 XL | 12h 09m |
6 | Huawei P20 Pro | 14h 13m |
This test result is also similar to that of TechRadar. And obviously, the battery life is one of the important factors that customers often consider when choosing a smart phone.
According to Gareth Beavis:
The Apple lovers, however, should not be worried too much about the battery life of the new iPhones. As you can see from the table above, the average battery life for smart phones is 9h48m. And, fortunately, the XS lasted 50 minutes longer the average.
However, when comparing with the iPhone X, which was released last year, the new ones last for a shorter period of time. iPhone X can last 10h 49m on the same test and, the 8 Plus has an even better record of 11h 16m.
Also, in a recent teardown, a new singular of the iPhone XS and XS Max are even smaller than that of the Galaxy Note 9. For example, the iPhone XS and XS Max has the L-shaped 2,659-mAh battery in the smaller phone and a dual-battery setup with a combined 3,179-mAh while that in the Galaxy Note 9 is 4,000-mAh.
Despite the fact that this single test can not tell everything about the new iPhones, it is still a very clear demonstration of the difference between battery life of iOS and Android devices. Also this test focuses on one of the main purposes that we use our phones for: to surf the internet.
We also have a verdict of the new device. It is undeniable that this is the best one so far. But it is not a surprised, because this is the latest version. However, the big question is that what the difference between this one and the last ones that Apple has created is.
The almost the same design, the more powerful and “wider” sound of the speaker, the enlarged camera with Smart HDR, the better battery management, the far more powerful chipset inside, plus the removal of iPhone X from the market are factors making the new iPhone more attractive.
