iPhone users are reporting battery drain problems after they update their phones to iOS 14.2. The issue have been spotted on older models including the iPhone 7, iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XR, and the new iPhone SE. Apart from that, the battery drain issue has also been reported by iPad users who updated their devices to iPadOS 14.2.

Complaints about this problem have been posted on Reddit and the Apple Developer Forums. Shortly after, there was a report of the battery drain on the iPhone. According to users, more than 50% of their battery juice on the iPhone is draining within 30 minutes. Furthermore, they have noticed a significant drop of 5% in battery juice in minutes of moderate use.
A user said on Reddit:
“I updated my iPhone 7+ to iOS 14.2 and now I have a battery drain problem and it takes a long time to be charged and warmup during charging.”

Meanwhile, another user shared their problem on Twitter, saying:
“@AppleSupport @Apple updated my iPhone 11 to iOS 14.2 & seeing quite a lot of battery drain & phone is not even 12 months old yet. Not a great update to the iOS and I’ll be moving over to android for my next phone as not good enough for not even a 1-year-old device.”
A user said on the Apple Developers forum that his battery performed normally before the update but started draining fast after the update.

“My phone battery was perfectly fine before [the] update, now, it goes to one percent from 70 percent in [a] matter of minutes.”
Previously, iPhone users reported problems when updating to iOS 14. Apple acknowledged the issue and advised users to remove their own settings and content from the phone to fix it. This time, however, the tech giant has not responded to complaints relating to iOS 14.2.
It’s worth noting that the battery drain issue has been reported with older iPhone models only with the iPhone 12 models performing well. Nevertheless, some users of the newest iPhones reported battery drain as well but the cause remains unclear.
