Actually, those two are so similar that many people are having more problems in deciding between those two’s operating systems, iOS, and Android, than their hardware.
We can’t decide it for you but I can assist you by figuring out their notable differences and similarities as well.
Apple’s iPhone XR comes with a slightly cheaper price than the Google Pixel 3
It stays at $749, while the Google Pixel 3 stays at $799.

But Google currently allows customers to pre-order the Pixel 3 which will start shipping from October 18.
For Apple’s latest phone, customers will not be able to preorder the Apple’s iPhone XR until October 19, and it will start shipping from October 26.
Apple offers more available color options for its iPhone XR compared to the Pixels

Customers can choose the iPhone XR in 6 different colors: white, black, blue, coral and red while The Pixel 3 only has three colors with quirky names given by Google: Clearly White, Just Black and Not Pink.
Apple’s iPhone XR offers more choices in storage than the Google Pixel 3

There are three storage options for the iPhone XR: 64 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB.
You can only get The Google Pixel 3 two storage sizes: 64 GB and 128 GB.
The iPhone XR is slightly larger than the Pixel 3 and it also has significantly higher weight.

Below are the Pixel 3’s dimensions:
Size: 5.7 inches x 2.7 inches
Weight: 148 grams
Thickness: 0.3 inches
And the iPhone XR’s dimensions are as follows:
Length: 5.94 inches x 2.98 inches
Weight: 194 grams
Thickness: 0.33 inches
But Apple’s iPhone XR’s display is larger than the Google Pixel 3’s

While the Apple iPhone XR is equipped with a 6.1-inch "liquid retina" display, the Google Pixel 3 is equipped with a 5.5-inch OLED display.
Thanks to the OLED display, the Pixel 3 is able to turn on “always on display” to allows users to configure to see notifications, watch the time and many more even after the display is turned off.
The Pixel 3 also comes with a fingerprint scanner, while Apple’s iPhone XR has to rely on its facial recognition to unlock.

Just like the two predecessors of the Pixel 3, it comes with a fingerprint scanner on the back of the phone.
The Apple’s iPhone X already did not have a fingerprint scanner and Apple applied the same design to its new iPhone XS and XR. Apple believes that its facial recognition system called Face ID is enough to secure your phones.
Many people have different opinions on the fingerprint scanner vs Face ID but personally, I think the fingerprint is still a good feature to keep. It is still faster and more reliable than the new Face ID, and having the scanner on the back of the device is a bit more convenient and also easy to use.
Dust-water resistance of Iphone XR and Pixel 3
While the iPhone XR has IP67 dust-water resistance, the Pixel is using IP68 dust-water resistance. Both phones allow wireless charging and those two do not support 3.5mm headphone jack.

Both operating systems of iPhone XR and Pixel 3 are up-to-date.

The Google Pixel 3 is running Android 9 which is a newly released version of Android. That means this phone is running with the latest stock operating system of Google and it will not come with any unnecessary skins or layers that many phone producers put in their phones.
The Apple iPhone XR is also running the latest version of iOS - iOS 12
Both the Pixel 3 and the iPhone XR have high-quality and single-lens rear cameras.
Both phones have similar rear cameras in terms of hardware.
Both phones have a single rear lens with the specifications of 12-megapixel, f/1.8 aperture. Cameras of both the Pixel 3 and the iPhone XR can take photos in portrait mode with options of blurring the background.
The software is a notable difference between these two phones. Google introduced many interesting software features that can make the camera of the Pixel 3 better:
- You can set the phone in “Photobooth mode” to automatically take photos when you are making a funny face or smiling.
- Portrait mode has had a lot of improvement which allows users to edit the depth of field after the fact (just like in the iPhone XS), but you can make colors pop by muting other colors as well or change the photo’s focal subject.
- You can know use "Super Res Zoom" to take better close-up photos and still keep the photos’ detail.
- “Night Sight” features of Google uses machine learning to enhance low-light photographs as Google claimed it can make the low-light photos clearer and brighter as well
