It's Official, You Can Now Send Messages From Instagram To Facebook Messenger

Facebook has actually begun working on its merging plan by letting users send messages from Instagram to Messenger and integrate several features.

Since 2019, we have heard several rumors around Facebook merging its messaging platforms Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp, allowing users to text across these apps. Now, the social giant has actually begun working on it by letting users send messages from Instagram to Messenger and add some Messenger features to Instagram.

If users enable this feature, they can chat with their Messenger friends from Instagram seamlessly. The tech giant is also working on integrating other Messenger features into the popular photo-sharing platform.

These features include adjusting the interface, stickers, emojis, message effects, as well as blocking unwanted accounts. Furthermore, Facebook plans to use the IGTV and Reels feature to strengthen the connection between these platforms. This move is intended to increase user engagement in these apps, reduce the possibility that they may switch to other platforms.

This is part of a master plan of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg starting 2019 with the aim of merging the three messaging platforms, each of which has around 1 billion users, making them engaged even more to the company’s ecosystem as well as increasing the convenience in texting friends within the system.

However, this move has faced criticism and challenges. Such a huge number of messages sent and received will require massive infrastructure to ensure the smooth daily operation, especially with WhatsApp, an end-to-end encryption system. Other issues include the monopoly matter as Mark Zuckerberg had to testify in front of the US Congress, the FTC, while the EU is investigating the company’s dominance.

Are you looking forward to this merger? Do you worry about cross-app messaging or Facebook’s dominance?
