After several acquisitions of some podcast platforms such as reputable network Gimlet Media or podcast creation app Anchor, Spotify is continuing its expansion by acquiring another podcasting company. The third one is named to Parcast.
Parcast owns a couple of story-telling shows
The music streaming giant recently has announced that Parcast would completely be a part of Spotify. Parcast is a podcast storytelling studio and specializes in some premier shows of crime, mystery, and science fiction. There’s no official announcement about the dealing amount.
'Unsolved Murders', one of criminal series from Parcast
In a speech of Spotify, Parcast is described as a worth contract due to its top genres for the users. Parcast is established in 2016 and it has been releasing nearly 20 podcast shows until now. Some of those include Serial Killers, Mind’s Eye or Unsolved Murders, which gains the fame of Parcast around the world.
The acquisition is supposed to consolidate the position of Spotify as an outplaying platform in the podcast industry. In a line with Gimlet Media and Anchor, Parcast as the third supporter will help Spotify to gain more resources and create a podcasting library that might not be available anywhere else. In some ways, the Swedish company might find podcast industry gold.
Daniel Ek
In January, the founder and CEO of Spotify, Daniel Ek has disclosed that more than 20 percent of all listening would be non-music content in the future. While the music business is remaining as the core money-making machine, the revenue from others will increase in the overall business result. As commented by Cutler, Parcast’s future path will be full of fantastic content alongside Spotify.
