Nokia Software is planning to test out its 5G telecom network for the Indian market. The company has filed for a pilot run, citing its experience in bringing into service 5G networks in Korea, Japan, and the United States commercially.
Bhaskar Gorti, Nokia Software's president, said:
He also mentioned how India was a hidden gem of the networking major and telecom infrastructure.

Gorti, Oracle's Communications Global Business Unit's Senior Vice President and General Manager, was recruited by Nokia in 2015 to build a software program that would help the company lead the field. According to Gorti, the company has developed remarkable software capability right here in India. And for global customers, the country becomes an innovation lab to demonstrate its technology. He continued:
Unlike previous technologies, 5G is not solely dependent on hardware. Networking capabilities and speeds improvements are largely thanks to the software embedded in the hardware. Countries like India will gain an upper hand in the field due to its base of networking software experts.
5G brings great benefits such as high throughput and low latency. Nokia wants to take advantage of this to set up cloud-based options to expand its services base to go beyond just a mere provider.
Nokia India is in charge of most of the work. Gorti said:
Nokia currently has more than 2600 employees in India. This number accounts for half of its workforce worldwide. In 2018, Nokia earned $3.3 billion in revenue.
