Elon Musk – the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, said that his brain-computer project would begin human trials later this year.
Neuralink was founded by Musk in 2016 and its goal is to create a computer interface that can link to the brain to work as a long-term solution for spinal cord injuries, Alzheimer, dementia, and other neurological conditions.
This update was revealed when Elon Musk answered a request made by a user to participate in the human trials of Neuralink.
Here is Musk’s response:
On January 31, Musk told Clubhouse users that the startup recently made use of nanotechnology to allow a monkey to play video games with its mind by implanting a chip into its brain.
Musk said the implant was barely visible, except for a slight dark mohawk.
He used to say that the human trials would take place in the second quarter of 2020 – a prediction that has failed to come true.
Elon Musk became the richest person in the world last month when his net worth amassed $185bn.
