Millions Of Basic Cellphone Users Can Now Use WhatsApp On KaiOS

Users can now find WhatsApp on the KaiStore and run it on “millions” of cellphones which come with a 256MB of RAM or more and support the KaiOS.

The Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp has been only available on some basic cellphones running KaiOS; however, the latest source reveals that Facebook has a plan to expand its availability to more users.

In terms of KaiOS, it is an operating system designed for feature phones such as Nokia 8110 remake (first introduced in 2018).

Users can now find WhatsApp on the KaiStore and run it on “millions” of cellphones which come with a 256MB of RAM or more and support the KaiOS. The majority of these KaiOS devices will be preloaded with this app in Quarter 3 of 2019. Until now, there have been more than 10 crores of the shipped cellphones.

Back to September of last year, Indian users first experienced the KaiOS app on JioPhone devices.

As of now, the messaging app has become the most prominent platform with more than 150 crores users all over the world. However, in fact, lots of people haven’t yet accessed it because of the two major reasons: First, smartphones are too expensive for them, and second, WhatsApp is not to their liking.

The Nokia 8110 is one of the devices supporting the KaiOS version of WhatsApp.

With the new client of WhatsApp, users can easily chat with their relatives and friends who are also joining this platform, as well as look for a countless number of job opportunities, services, and stores.

The owners of the following seven KaiOS cellphones can download and enjoy WhatsApp right now, including the Orange Sanze, Nokia 8110, MTN Smart, JioPhone 2, JioPhone, Doro 7060, and the Cat B35.

While many are still concerned about the great power in Facebook’s hand, at least the new WhatsApp version for basic cellphones will bring a good experience to those who can’t afford to have a high-cost device.
