Microsoft planned to open its third R&D center in India, creating employment opportunities for thousands of local engineers. Before Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s CEO, pay a visit to the country, the tech giant has confirmed this news and said that this would be a huge chance for Indian engineers. The company also had a plan to expand this new facility into a full-fledged center like its first and second one in Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

This third center will play a vital role in Microsoft’s expansion in India. However, so far, the company has said nothing about the size of the investment it plans to pour in the new center.
According to Rajiv Kumar, Microsoft India Research and Development’s managing director, the tech giant wants to tap into the talents at this part of India and create a pioneer center that can bring about global impact.
The new center will be the incubator for several of Microsoft’s engineering teams, including Cloud and Enterprise Group, Experience & Devices Group, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Research Group.
With the Noida center going into operation, the company will bring the Mixer team to India. Mixer is its home-grown live-streaming gaming platform and so far, only its headquarter in the U.S has ever housed the platform.
Microsoft’s first-ever R&D center was built in Hyderabad in 1998. It is also one of the company’s largest research facilities outside of the U.S.
Satya Nadella will visit Indian later this month. However, details on the exact time and cities have not yet been revealed. All we know for now is that he would come to the country to address entrepreneurs, young achievers, customers, developers, and students.
Meanwhile, Microsoft’s Indian-American CEO has recently expressed concerns over the local government’s Citizen Amendment Act.
