Back in July 2019, the Taiwan-based chipmaker MediaTek unveiled a set of smartphone chipsets that focus on gaming, including Helio G90 and G90T. Aiming to take on the segment of affordable gaming phones, the company now updates its Helio G product line with two new variants of gaming-focused chipsets: Helio G70 and G80.

According to Mediatek, Helio G70 and G80 cater to those who look for a mid-tier phone with high-end features while gaming. These Helio G-series processors comprise of MediaTek-owned HyperEngine tools, built-in Voice on Wakeup feature, and multi-camera support.

The Helio G80 sports two ARM Cortex-A75 cores coming along with six ARM Cortex-A55 cores in tow, respectively running at 2GHz and 1.8 Hz. Also, it houses an ARM G52 MC2 GPU clocked at 950 MHz. In the meantime, the Helio G70 is considered as a toned-down version of G80 as it has a slight downgrade in a few areas. For instance, the Helio G70 just features an ARM Mali-C53 MC2 GPU 820Hz while six efficiency-oriented CPU cores run at 1.7GHz.

Rumors about MediaTek’s gaming chipsets and upcoming devices that will get paired with them have flown around for a while. In fact, the Helio G70 seems to take place in the Realme C3, which is set to arrive in the Indian market on Feb 6. As for the Helio G80, it’s also expected to come as early as this quarter.
