Live Language Translations With Microsoft’s HoloLens Tech

People no longer need to speak any foreign languages fluently thanks to HoloLens from Microsoft. This new technology is able to make a person's life-size hologram which is able to speak in many different languages in the voice of that person.

As Futurism reported, this demo was made by combining mixed reality and neural networking. The software maker created a quite realistic-looking hologram of White, and the life-size hologram mimicked Julia’s native tongue utilizing a translator.

Specifically, as reported by The Verge, on the 17^th of July, the company introduced this latest technology’s demo during the keynote speech at Microsoft's Inspire partner conference in Las Vegas. The demonstration of Microsoft’s latest innovation at this conference involved White, her hologram and a HoloLens 2 headset. Her hologram first appeared as a small green outline which White was able to hold in her hands, however, once she uttered “render keynote”, that small hologram immediately became Julia’s fully rendered replica at the human size and started to deliver her speech in Japanese with White's voice.

This new tech was said to be driven by “artificial intelligence technology called Neural Text to Speech or Neural TTS.”

According to The Verge, by recording White’s voice, it developed “a personalized voice signature”.  This mentioned voice signature lets the holographic replica of White sound as if she really speaks Japanese fluently. Whereas, in fact, she admitted that she does not speak any Japanese.

According to the software maker, HoloLens technology can be implemented widely such as helping people to deliver their speeches at different locations without leaving their own places.

Holograms’ translation ability is a first from the software maker. The project currently appears to be under development, nevertheless, maybe it will become a commercial reality soon with the vast resources of Microsoft.
