Delhi Will Soon Get 1000 Electric Buses To Curb Pollution

Delhi is planning to use e-buses to meet the transportation demand and also control its pollution level.

As you may know, to fight Delhi's air pollution, the city government approved on Wednesday to hire a consultant to run 1,000 electric buses to reduce their air emission and these buses are estimated to cost around Rs. 2,500 crore in the national capital as promised in its 2018-19 Budget.
And now, after discussing in the Transport department’s meeting on October 4, Transport Minister of Delhi - Kailash Gahlot and senior officials’ delegation are ready to come to China later this month to get more understanding of how the electric buses work in China.
That visit will be the first step of Delhi plan to get 10,000 running on the roads of Delhi. The e-buses serve the purpose of filling the demand for a mass transit system in the National Capital Region but still keep the air pollution level in Delhi at a reasonable level.
India government is trying to fight the air pollution in the country
China is currently top one in the worldwide of e-buses’ use for its requirement of transporting which is 99 percent of global use for e-buses. In the second half of October, the delegation will be going to Hong Kong and China to take a look at their e-bus system. For the e-buses-trial run, the Department of Transport is in contact with three manufacturers, including one Chinese and two local company.
Update in 3 Nov:
On Friday, the Delhi government just conducted a trial run of the electric buses and said that they are in the process of procuring e-buses to run on the city roads by 2019.
A government official said that the Department of Transport has been constructing of depots for 1,000 electric buses in Delhi.
