Last Thursday, Jeff Bezos accused “top people” from the National Enquirer of blackmailing him. Accordingly, the publication threatens to publicize his nude photos if Bezos does not stop investigating into how the Enquirer got text messages between the Amazon chief and his girlfriend.
Bezos wrote in his highly personal blog post that the Enquirer threatened that it would publish intimate photos of Lauren Sanchez and him. Sanchez used to be an entertainment TV host, with whom Bezos was allegedly having an affair while married to Mac Kenzie. In his post, Bezos also posted email exchanges which prove the extortion plot against him.
Bezos’ post reads:
According to a statement from American Media last Friday morning, it will carry out an investigation into Bezos’ claims. The statement also noted that once the investigation is finished, the Board will have its appropriate response to the result.
The blog post additionally said that an AMI executive emailed Bezos, saying that if the Amazon chief did not make a false statement that AMI was never “politically motivated or influenced by political forces,” the exec would publish the nude photos.
Back in January, the Nation Enquirer was the first one to publish details of the affair between Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez, resulting in the most expensive divorce in history.
An email noted that the photos consist of a Bezos’ naked selfie in a bathroom and a bit of Sanchez’s sensitive region. Bezos said the email didn’t grab his attention in the way it was meant to and that there was a more critical issue here. He also said he would not tolerate such extortions.
Bezos posted in his blog at a time when people are wondering about his divorce’s influence on Amazon. If it’s true that he didn’t sign a prenuptial agreement, Mac Kenzie may get half of his ownership in the company as well as half of his wealth. And now with this extortion, the scandal has just got another layer upon its top and more problems come to Bezos.
