At the beginning of this week, users of Google Duo have seen the launch of many new features brought to the app and now, the turn belongs to Google Meet. This roll-out of four new updates represents how Google is following the current trend whereby more and more attempts are made to improve the quality of its video conferencing apps.

The first introduced feature is the tiled layout for larger calls. Not long ago, Google Meet users were able to see at most 4 tiled screens of 4 people at a time while they were holding a meeting with the others. But now, the number of visible tiled layouts has been extended to 16 participants on their screens at a time, which helps the users easily observe and control their meeting.

Secondly, Google Meet is offering its users more control over the content that is presented in their meetings. Instead of being able to share the entire screens only, now they can share high-grade videos along with the audio through a function called Present a Chrome tab. Moreover, this feature has just been updated for G-Suite users today.
The next feature that is being added to Google Meet is the low-light mode. Giving an explanation for this update, Google said that this AI-based functionality is used to autonomously adapt the light in case users’ lighting condition is not adequate to make their videos visible to other participants. This feature is being introduced to the mobile version of the app. Meanwhile, web users may have to wait a little bit longer to use this interesting function.
Finally yet importantly, a new noise-filter feature is also updated for Google Meet. Thanks to this function, background noises will be automatically identified and filtered out. It is going to be rolled out to web-based customers of G Suite Enterprise and G Suite Enterprise for Education in several weeks. Regarding mobile users, they will be able to use this feature later on.
