Although many people have quarreled over the exact pronunciation of GIFs, they all can not deny the importance of them in their daily communications. As a matter of fact, they are fully supported by many social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Whatsapp then sent to your email in creative, eye-catching and signed types. Recently, the creator of them - Giphy - has announced that the company is adding sound to its huge collection of GIFs as well as stickers, which will end the silent days of them.
In the past, Giphy did make an effort to revolutionize its products by collaborating with Snapchat. The result has been really promising with its very first video platform. In the near future, users will no longer have to watch muted videos, despite the fact that at the beginning, there will be a limited number of media collaborators that are chosen beforehand. According to Variety, some names that will initially cooperate with Giphy are Universal Pictures, Geffen Records and BBC America. They are going to create clips that might have a length of 30 seconds to focus on grabbing watchers’ attention on forthcoming films and TV shows. However, there might be further discussions over the length of clips, because Giphy is suggesting up to 15 seconds for a clip to attract watchers effectively.
Alex Chung - CEO of Giphy - has told Variety that it had taken ages for GIFs to become viral as these days. He claimed that this achievement was the result of developing meme culture as well as Extremely Online types. Similarly, in the revolution of audio GIFs, users’ content will play a crucial role in their success although the company’s investment should be considered more important. Having the same opinion with Giphy, Imgur also did a campaign to upgrade their products last year, but no one seemed to see the result yet. By any means, Giphy CEO confirmed that they did not come up with any strategy to extend the platform to the population. Even whether it will be Giphy or not, if the platform still exists, users will have the chance to use upgraded versions very soon.
