With some tricks, YouTube users can get their videos back on track whether they are Wi-Fi connection or using their carrier’s mobile network.

As you are extremely excited about the latest video of your most favorite YouTuber, a playback error or buffering is the last thing that you want to solve. The issue is frustrating, annoying, and able to be fixed easily. It’s time to deal with problems such as lost server connection, notifications notifying an error, etc.

There are some tips to fix your YouTube video even if you are either using the carrier’s mobile network or  Wi-Fi connection. Remember to get the latest YouTube updated version in case it is the reason for your slow videos. Now let’s look at how to point out the problem and get your video back on track.

Maybe your video is loading slowly because your cache is full

Clear your cache

There will be loading problems when you watch videos if the browser’s cache is extremely full. As a result, to solve the killing-time problem, you should clear your cache.

First, open Chrome on any accessible smart device. Click on the three stacked dots menu. After that, for computer users, you can open More Tools and choose Clear Browsing Data. For smartphone users, you can choose History, then click on Clear Browsing Data.

In case you are using an Android device, PC, or Mac, on the screen’s top, choose a time range then All time for wiping out all data. With iPhone users, you can skip this step.

Next to ‘Cached images and files’ and ‘Cookies and site data’, there are some boxes, put a tick in them. Click on Clear data. After doing every step, users might need to sign in to Google account again.

You can check your network activities, connection speed and buffer health by a special YouTube tool

Find out the issue

‘Stats for nerds’ is a special tool showing your detailed network activities, buffer health, as well as connection speed in detailed statistics while you are streaming videos. This tool won’t help you smooth your videos but point out the possible issues.

On your phone, at the top right corner, you tap on the icon of your account. Click on Settings then Enable stats for nerds (for iPhone users) or select Settings, then tap General, and Enable stats for nerds (for Android users). Watch a video and select the three-dot menu. Choose Stats for nerds. Statistics will be present in the center, and you are able to move the box everywhere on the screen.

In a desktop browser, right-click the player while watching a video on YouTube. Tap Stats for nerds. On the left corner, a window will appear, showing you the network activities, buffer health, and the connection speed. Some of these details are meant for helping developers troubleshoot issues with videos, but you may get a sense in case of buffering or bandwidth issues.

Change the video quality

It’s easy to solve the buffering videos as you have found the reasons

When seeing the connection speed, you might want to check if it is compatible with the sustained speed recommended by YouTube for satisfactory video playback. You need to have more than 2.5 Mpbs if your YouTube video is running at 720p, for instance.

The lower resolution you choose on the video, the smoother it should play. The video won’t look great. However, you can stop worrying about buffering at least.

To change video quality on a desktop browser, choose Settings > Quality, then select the resolution.

To do it on a smartphone, select the three stacked dots menu, then Quality for choosing a resolution.

Try YouTube Premium

YouTube users can try the Premium version if you are continuously struggling with loading your videos. The advantage of owning YouTube Premium is watching videos offline by downloading them. You no longer need to watch a buffering video when your connection is poor. Users must pay Rs 862 monthly for using the premium version and there is one month free for trying.
