Apple is stepping up the game to break the Apple Watch free from the need to be connected to an iPhone to enable certain functions. And with what it has achieved, the Series 6 and future models may have an improved networking system.

This piece of news is leaked by AppleInsider, which spotted a patent showing Apple’s design for an inbuilt antenna placed under Apple Watch’s display. This mechanism will make use of the larger surface to enhance capacity.

While Apple doesn’t elaborate on much better the connection will be with an in-display antenna, it seems to be very confident that users will notice an upgrade in networking with a larger receptor.

It’s true Apple's wearables with LTE can operate on its own without an iPhone but many users still hesitate with leaving the phone at home.

We might be heading to a future where Apple Watch replaces iPhones. And who knows, smartphones have taken the place of landline, proving that nothing is impossible.

However, don’t expect to ditch the iPhone soon as Apple is releasing the iPhone 12 shortly. What we have now is merely a patent so there is no guarantee we will see it on an Apple Watch.

Apple is still persistent with its goal to minimize its wearable’s dependence on the iPhones so you will likely see baby steps toward that future.

The upcoming Apple Watch 6 is thought to have longer battery life and a blood oxygen monitor.
