Before the internet, life was very different for everyone. Many of those living from that time can tell you a bunch of things about that life, how people were less busy, less stressed, and happier.
But there’s no denying that the internet has brought about a lot of benefits, including access to vast information, job opportunities, shopping convenience, and businesses. This post will show you some of the best images, tweets, and memes that show how different life was before the internet.
1. Amazon was a river, nothing more
These days, if someone says Amazon, we will definitely think about one of the largest e-commerce platforms where you can buy almost anything from anywhere around the world. But back then, Amazon was simply the name of the world’s largest river.

2. Music was stored on tapes
Long before the birth of MP3 players and Spotify, people had to either buy song copies or tape them off the radio. They had to wait for hours for their favorite song to come up on the radio then quickly pressed the record button.

3. Socializing meant leaving the house
Without the internet, you had to leave your house to do things that you can now do with Google, YouTube, and social media. You had to go to a store for shopping, watch a movie at the cinema, and meet friends to actually see their faces and talk with them.

4. Dating was different
Before the internet, if you wanted to ask someone on a date, you had to take the courage and ask them in person. This still happens these days, but with the help of dating apps like Tinder, meeting someone has become much simpler and quicker.

5. The library and encyclopedias ruled before Google
Now, whatever we want to know, we just need to open Google and type in a keyword or our questions. But back then, you had to spend a lot of time and effort to find information in books, or encyclopedias, or the library. Or the most technology-related tool was Encarta ’95.

6. Only spiders could make a web
Without the internet, many jobs that are popular now didn’t even exist, like web designing. Back then, if we talked about the web, the only thing we could think of was the spider.

7. Social media posts were on real walls
Before the internet was created, when you needed everyone to see a piece of information, you had to print it out and stick it on a wall. Well, that does not mean those posts would get less feedback from people, they would leave a crafted notice to criticize what you posted.

8. Mobile gaming was different
When mobile phones first came out, no one thought playing games on them was possible. However, this changed when Nokia released the first mobile phone with games such as “Snake,” which changed the gaming world forever.
Mobile gaming has since come a long way, especially thanks to the internet that lets players interact in games and download more titles onto their devices.

9. Books
When there wasn’t any internet, people had to hit the books to research stuff. They even considered reading books a means of entertainment. Now, reading books is still a leisure activity, but not for everyone anymore.

10. Selfies required sophisticated technology
If you wanted to take a selfie in the 1990s, you would need some sophisticated technology. While some people used a Polaroid camera, others turned to more ingenious ways to do this. One of those alternative methods was using a Game Boy Camera, GameBoy, as well as Game Boy Printer setup.
