World’s Fastest Internet Speed Takes Only 1 Sec to Download All Of Netflix

Researchers at University College London have set a new record for their world’s fastest internet at 178 terabits per second.

Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, companies and schools have allowed employees and students to work and study from home with the help of the mighty internet.

If the internet slows down or gets interrupted, all hell breaks loose. This makes us understands why it is important to have a fast internet connection.

It is already established how the internet speeds of India are nothing compared to that of other countries. But the internet speeds at University College London will make them even more envious.

Researchers have set a new record for their world’s fastest internet at 178 terabits per second. The project was carried out by researcher Dr. Lidia Galdino at the Royal Academy of Engineering in collaboration with Xtera and Kiddi Research.

To be able to achieve such insane speeds, researchers at the UCL have used a higher range of wavelengths rather than the standard fiber optic ones. They have also applied newer amplifier technology to enhance the signal.

At the moment, the infrastructure using 4.5THz and 9THz bandwidths has just appeared in some markets. But this super-fast internet is using a 16.8THz bandwidth.

In case you were thinking that it would be expensive to set up these systems, according to UCL, it cost only a fraction of the cost to install fiber optic cables.
