India has some great movies about the Indian army. If you have always been dreaming of joining the Army but couldn’t, or you are just in awe of all the brave soldiers, here is a list of must-watch Indian Army movies that you should check out.
1. Border
Border, one of the movies on Indian army, was directed by JP Dutta with Sunny Deol as Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri, along with Sunil Shetty, Jackie Shroff, and Akshaye Khanna. The movie portraits the will of 120 soldiers from Punjab regiment to defend their position and hold back the assault of the Pakistani army until the support arrived the next day.
2. LOC Kargil
Another film directed by JP Dutta that captured people’s hearts. The movie tries to convey the chronological details of the war as closely and accurately as possible. LOC Kargil featured a lot of great Bollywood stars including Sanjay Dutt, Sunil Shetty, Ajay Devgan, Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Manoj Bajpai, Akshay Khanna and many more. During the filming process, the movie received support from the Indian army with the weaponry such as the Bofors Gun and the INSAS rifles.

4. URI: The Surgical Strike
Uri: The Surgical Strike, which was released in Jan 2019, is one of the best army movies Bollywood. It is based on the Indian Army’s 2016 surgical strikes. It is guaranteed that the film will give Indian viewers goosebumps and make them stand tall with their heads high. The move has five chapters.
5. The Ghazi Attack
The movie takes viewers back to the year 1971. It portrays how a Naval crew, during their routine surveillance, found and intercepted PNS Ghazi, the Pakistani Submarine. The two sides went on fighting with the Indian crew succeeded in preventing the Pakistani troop from destroying the INS Vikrant.
6. Prahaar: The Final Attack
This Bollywood movie, which was directed by Nana Patekar depicts the life of an Army man. The inspiration of the movie is Peter D’Souza who kept on fighting to the last breath for his country, society, and family. The movie was played by many great stars including Nana Patekar, Dimple Kapadia, Madhuri Dixit, and Gautam Joglekar.
7. Shaurya: It Takes Courage To Make Right… Right
The movie has the Kashmir conflict happened in Jammu and Kashmir as the main background. The film tells the story of an Indian army officer who had to go on trial in a military court for supposedly killed his superior officer and an Indian Army lawyer who attempted to defend him.
8. Haqeeqat
The movie is based on the 1962 war between China and India. The film has Chetan Anand as the director, starring Balraj Sahni, Priya Rajvansh, Dharmendra, Vijay Anand, and Sanjay Khan. The film portraits the bravery of the Indian soldiers to protect India’s border from the attack of Chinese forces.
9. 1971
The 2007 movie by director Amrit Sagar is based on the true story of 6 war prisoners 6 years after the Indo-Pak war in 1971. As the film goes on, it depicts how the group of soldiers escape from the Pakistani Army and risks their life in their journey back home.
10. Vijeta
Vijeta, one of the Indian army related movies, was directed by Govind Nihalani, telling the story of Angad. From being a confused teenager who was trying to figure out what he wanted to do in life, Angad proved his potential of becoming an air force pilot. The film starred Shashi Kapoor, Rekha, Kunal Kapoor, Supriya Pathak, Amrish Puri, and Shafi Inamdar.
