Francesca Cortellaro, a doctor at San Carlo Borromeo hospital in Milan has recently shared a heartbreaking story of how horrible it is for patients with COVID-19.

The most tearful moment for Dr. Francesca Cortellaro is probably when she has to watch her patients d.i.e right in front of her. She told Il Giornale, an Italian newspaper that what most dramatic was to watch patients d.y.i.n.g all alone, and before they breathed their last, they begged her to help them say goodbye to their children and grandchildren.

Dr Cortellaro said that COVID-19 patients arrived at the hospital on their own and when d.e.a.t.h came, they could sense it. She described it as someone who was drowning and they knew it.

She shared the story of a grandmother who asked to see her granddaughter for the last time before she d.i.e.d. The doctor pulled out the phone and called the woman. The dying grandmother bid farewell one last time and then she passed away.

The doctor said that she had had a long list of video calls. She named it the farewell list.
