100 Driverless Cars Will Parade To Welcome Summer Olympics

Along with outstanding athletes' performance, the event of 100 driverless cars is also expected to attract more and more interest of the whole world and hence, the advanced technology will have more significant improvements in the future.

In a bid to welcome the upcoming 2020 Summer Olympics, Japan has recently revealed its plan to let up to 100 driverless cars parade on some certain places in Tokyo.

These vehicles will travel freely in the waterfront area in Tokyo.

More particularly, the most expensive city in the world will show off the driverless technology near the places where the athletics tournament takes place on July 2020.

Along with outstanding athletes' performance, the event of 100 driverless cars is also expected to attract more and more interest of the whole world and hence, the advanced technology will have more significant improvements in the future.

These vehicles will travel freely in the waterfront area in Tokyo where organizers plan to hold the competition.

As the Program Director for Automated Driving Systems, Japan, Seigo Kuzumaki unveiled that the self-driving vehicles will take 7,000 passengers within a week from July 06 2020. He has been observing the operation. The Japan Times was the one to provide the news.

He further said that the participants in this event would also include two renowned car manufacturers: Nissan Motor Co. and Toyota Motor Corp. In addition, many parts manufacturers in the country will be present.

The Japan Times points out that the event will be the largest driverless car trial in Japan till now. This is an opportunity for the country to showcase its strengths in driverless technology.

From October to then, many tests will be conducted on the city’s public roads, and vehicles will be provided by 28 institutions and companies. The Japanese government officially announced that 100% driverless cars will be available on the market in 2025.

The famous auto-maker Toyota plans to bring not only traditional-style cars but also small robot vehicles to Summer Olympics. These robots will be responsible for carrying staff members and athletes around the Paralympic and Olympic Village.

Concept-i, the futuristic self-driving vehicle from Toyota, will run with runners of the Olympic torch relay. To enhance safety for both passers-by and vehicles, the company has developed the product based on modern AI technology.
