We are now closer to a future in which robots become our assistants in daily lives. And now robots will be serving visitors and viewers at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Toyota, the Japanese automobile manufacturer, is bringing its team of robots to attend the Tokyo Olympics to assist players and spectators. And this will be the first time for an event like Olympics to have the appearance of robots.
The first two robots resemble Miraitowa and Someity, the two mascots of the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Miraitowa has white and blue trim while Someity has white and pink trim. And both have big adorable eyes.

The eyes are displays that will change expressions whenever the robots interact with humans. They also can move their arms and legs. They’ll be standing at the official venues of the Olympics to greet people and take selfies with them.
Toyota also has plans to place these robots in other Japanese cities so that kids living in those cities will not miss the fun.
The next robot looks more badass. It’s called T-HR3. While it doesn’t share the same appearance as Miraitowa and Someity, it’s guaranteed to bring a similar experience. The role of T-HR3 will be recreating a mascot robot’s moments in real-time in a remote location.

T-HR3 is also capable of streaming sounds and images from remote locations back to the Olympics’ site. With this robot, off-site fans can have interaction with athletes and others as it has greater articulation than the two other robots mentioned above.
Next is the T-TR1 which is equipped with a wheeled base, cameras as well as a huge vertical display which show people at life-size scale. T-TR1 offers remote people an opportunity to interact with fans and Olympic athletes on-site to feel like they are there.

The next robot actually comes in a pair: Human Support Robot and Delivery Support Robot. The Human Support Robot (HSR) will provide assistance to people with special needs so that they can reach their seats without any difficulty. The robot will also be providing these guests with meals, goods, and many other things.
On the other hand, the Delivery Support Robot (DSR) is for drinks, food and goods delivery. They will bring to spectator what they have ordered. Orders will be done via a dedicated tablet.

Last in the list is Field Support Robot (FSR) which is designed to support games involving throwing. The role of FSR will be taking the best possible route to retrieve things such as javelins and bring them to where they are needed.

With FST, the management hopes to cut down the needed time to retrieve items, lower the labor costs and make the Tokyo 2020 Olympics the most technologically advanced event ever held.
