In a new tweet from Xiaomi, the company revealed that the upcoming addition to the Redmi Y series dubbed Redmi Y3. While its predecessor Redmi Y2 packs a 3,080mAh cell, this new Redmi Y3 will come with a much larger 4,000mAh cell. The new photo teaser also shows a gradient finish on its rear panel with a mix of Yellow, Purple, and Blue colours.

Xiaomi already confirmed the Indian launch date of the Redmi Y3 to be on 24 April. The selfie-focused phone will sport a 32MP selfie camera, confirmed by the company’s Managing Director India and Global VP, Manu Kumar Jain. This is another aspect that the Redmi Y3 got a huge upgrade over its predecessor as the Redmi Y3 only has a 16MP selfie camera.
In addition, Xiaomi is said to use a Samsung GD1 sensor for the 32MP selfie camera, which has already been seen on the Vivo V15 Pro. At the rear, the Redmi phone will likely have the same camera setup as the Redmi Note 7 (Indian version) that has a 12MP primary shooter and a 2MP secondary camera. As for software, it is confirmed that the phone will ship with Xiaomi’s MIUI 10 which is based on the latest Android 9.0 Pie, according to its listing on Wi-Fi Alliance under the model number of M1810F6G.
In addition, the landing page for the Redmi Y3 is now live on Amazon.in and that means Xiaomi will offer online purchase for the phone besides its own Mi Home stores and mi.com of course. For now, its full set of specs hasn’t been revealed yet, but we believe that the Redmi Y3 will have similar specs to the Redmi Note 7. As the launch date is only less than a week away, there should be more details coming in the next few days.
