Xiaomi introduced a new generation of its Mi flagship series, Xiaomi Mi 9, in the Chinese market yesterday. The series included a total of three handsets, Xiaomi Mi 9, and Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer Edition. These phones are said to launch in the global market at the MWC 2019 in the upcoming week. Similar to the model last year, the Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer Edition will feature a glass back that shows some components inside the phone.

The Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer Edition will still sport a triple rear camera system like on the standard Xiaomi Mi 9. However, the setup in the special edition is more advanced than the standard model, comprising of a 48MP Sony IMX 586 main sensor with an aperture of f/1.47 and 7P lens, according to GSMArena. The main camera will be paired with a 12MP Samsung S5K3M5 telephoto sensor with support for 2X optical zoom and a 16MP Sony IMX 481 with 117-degree ultra-wide angle camera.

For taking selfies and video calling, the Explorer Edition sports a 24MP selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture. The increase in the Aperture lenses and size for the Explorer Edition allow users to take better images in low-light conditions. The phone also has AI-based algorithms that help it detect the current lighting conditions, and it will adjust the setting accordingly for the best photos.
Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer Edition: Specifications & Features

This Explorer Edition will sport a 6.4-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED panel with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection and a screen-to-body ratio of 90.7 percent. It will be powered by a Snapdragon 855 SoC, coupled with an Adreno 640 GPU. To keep the phone ticking, it is packed with a 3,300 mAh battery and support for both reverse wireless charging as well as wireless charging tech.
Xiaomi will offer the handset for a price from CNY 3,999 (around Rs. 42,400), and it will be up for sale in the forthcoming weeks in the Chinese market.
