Xiaomi is the world’s fourth largest smartphone producer with the well-known Mi and Redmi series. Recently the smartphone maker has broadened its product portfolio and come up with the BlackShark gaming smartphone as well as the Poco F1, which go in a new direction compared with what the company is mostly known for.
Now, several Chinese people leak that Xiaomi is perhaps onto a new addition to the gaming phone lineup.

As revealed by a Weibo account, the upcoming smartphone from Xiaomi is likely to be named “Xiaomi Play”. Accordingly, the company may introduce this new phone at its event, which will fall on between Dec 17 and Dec 26. This addition can be a celebration of Christmas Eve. However, there has hardly been any information about the next handset.
By its name, we can predict that the Play smartphone series is made for mobile gamers. Yet, BlackShark, backed by Xiaomis is already selling gaming smartphones as well as the Poco F1 powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor is doing a good job at serving gamers.
So we are not sure what differences or innovations the Play series will have to offer to stand out from its predecessors.

The rumors did not mention any of the phone’s specs. And although sources say this will come as another gamer-oriented product, there is also likeliness that the phone is just meant to catch up with Huawei’s sub-brand Honor, which has a specific phone series for gaming too.
It will take days before we can get official details about Xiaomi’s new phone. Provided that gaming smartphones are becoming more and more coveted among consumers, Xiaomi is possibly adding this kind of phone to its portfolio, which includes the BlackShark priced at RMB 3,199 (which equals Rs 32,000) and the Poco F1 with the starting price of RMB 1,999 (which is approximately Rs 20,000).
