Alongside the selfie-centric Redmi Y3, Xiaomi also announced the Redmi 7 at a launch event on 24 April. While the Redmi Y3 is touted for its 32MP selfie camera, the Redmi 7 is aimed at general consumers. The two phones share a lot of similarities with the selfie camera, and memory configurations are the two major differences.
Redmi 7: Price
The handset is priced from Rs. 7,999 for the base option with 2GB of RAM / 32GB of storage while the higher variant with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage will set you back by Rs. 8,999. Xiaomi offers three color variants for the handset, including Eclipse Black, Lunar Red, and Comet Blue with the last two coming with a gradient design.
It will be up for sale from 12 p.m on 29 April via Amazon India, Mi Stores, and Mi.com. You can get cashback as well as benefits that worth up to Rs. 2,400 from Jio.
Redmi 7: Specs & Features
The Redmi 7 packs a 6.26-inch HD+ display with 1,520 x 720p resolution, an aspect ratio of 19:9, and a water-drop notch on top. It is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 5 as well. It is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 632 chipset, and ship with Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 10.
Its dual rear camera setup includes a 12MP primary shooter with f/2.2 aperture, 1.25μm pixel size as well as a secondary 2MP depth sensor with a LED flash. Its rear camera features include AI Scene Detection, AI portrait Mode, recording video @FullHD resolution and 60fps with Electronic image stabilization (EIS), and Google Lens.
Up front, the handset only has a humble 8MP selfie camera compared to the 32MP shooter of the Redmi Y3. Therefore, don’t expect too much on its selfie camera. If you want to have a better selfie camera, go for the Redmi Y3 instead. Other notable features include a micro-USB port, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a 4,000mAh cell with 10W fast charging support.
