Netflix made its entry in India in 2016, trying to generate a more positive consumption view around South Asia. Over the past year, the number of subscribers and people using Netflix's mobile streaming service has grown significantly. Netflix noticed that.
The Star - a Malaysian newspaper, wrote that Netflix is carrying out tests on a new service at a monthly fee of only half the current fee. This service only applies to mobile subscriptions.
Earlier July, Cameron Johnson, Netflix's product innovation director, said that 60 percent of Netflix global users access Netflix’s mobile app to watch movies or their favorite show at least once per month. Therefore, the implementation of services only for mobile phones is extremely practical and meaningful.
In reality, there have been signs that Netflix has interests in users in countries like India, where Wi-Fi access is still limited and data is expensive. Netflix has launched a feature that allows users to download specific content into the app so that users can view it in places where there is no network connection. This also helps Indians reduce the charge of mobile data.
For users who regularly view Netflix's contents on their mobile phones more than other devices such as desktops or laptops, this is a recommended service to use. Just need to spend half the money that you should have spent as before, you can enjoy your favorite entertainment every day.
Netflix's new monthly fee is set to range from Rs 500 to Rs 800 in India. On the other hand, Netflix's testing this service for mobile devices in Malaysia and it is about Rs 250.
Netflix product manager Gregory Peters said that they will test the plan in a variety of locations, not only in India but around the world and pricing will be different among places.
We hope that this plan will soon be implemented in India so that all Indians can minimize the cost of their entertainment and that everyone will be able to watch their favorite programs everywhere.
