It is 2018, that means there will be 3 smartphones that have the price of $1,000 and higher.
Fortunately, an expensive price does not necessarily mean that the phone is a better choice. There are many smartphones with the price of under $1,000 that you can consider for their performance, value and designs.
10. Samsung Galaxy S9
Samsung Galaxy S9
This is an impressive phone with almost all the features existed on flagship smartphones. It features the best display, latest specs and also the top camera you can possibly get on a phone, a stunning design, water resistance, wireless charging and some other interesting features that make the Samsung Galaxy S9 worth purchasing.
So why don’t we put it in the top of the list? Because other phones, including its larger version The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus, have dual-camera systems. Moreover, Samsung’s Android version is not really for everyone.
Price of Samsung Galaxy S9: $719 (Rs. 52,231)
9. iPhone 8 Plus
The Apple’s phone released on 22 September 2017 is a good consideration if you love the major experiences iPhone can offer. It comes with an antiquated design, but the phone has the same A 11 chipset as the 2018 iPhone X, as well as a dual-lens camera, one of which is an optical zoom lens.
Price of iPhone 8 Plus: $710 (Rs. 51,578)
8. Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus
Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus
It is pretty much just a larger model of the Samsung Galaxy S9, but it comes with a dual-lens camera system and one of which is a 2x optical zoom lens. It also has more RAM than the Galaxy S9, which may increase its performance.
The Galaxy S9 Plus is on this list because it offers a top, full-fat and premium phone experience without having to pay $1,000 - the iPhone XS’s price.
Price of Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus: $840 (Rs. 61,022)
7. iPhone X
Well, Apple no longer sells its iPhone X, but you can still get a new one at many stores for around $900.
It runs on the Apple’s A11 Bionic processor, but many users of the iPhone X said that they didn’t notice a significant difference between the iPhone X and XS with the latest A12 processor. That could be due to extra optimization iOS 12 offers.
In some aspects, it maybe better to choose it over the iPhone XS, which may cost you around $100 for several upgrades. But may be if you can afford to pay around $900 for a phone, you can pay an extra of $100 to buy the latest model.
Price of iPhone X: $900 (Rs. 65,380)

6. LG V40
The V40 is a good phone with every feature of expensive Android flagships, and it features a triple-lens camera system that provides users with the top versatility in taking photographs.
The V40 comes with an optical zoom lens, a wide angle lens and also the signature ultra-wide angle lens of LG. Meanwhiles, smartphones with a dual-lens system, even the LG G7, only offer you either an ultra-wide angle lens or a zoom lens on top of the wide angle lens that most of the smartphones have.
It is also a great option for people who would love to enjoy good audio sound as the phone has an internal high-quality amplifier that makes users’ sound experience better with a wired headphone.
Price of LG V4: $950 (Rs. 69,012)
5. iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max
The iPhone XS and XS Max deliver possibly the best design of Apple, performance, and also features. They are pretty much the best iPhone model you can own, but their 5th position is due to their very high prices.
If you can afford to pay at least $1,000 on a phone, then just do it. Otherwise, paying that much for a phone is a bit too much as, for example, they don’t even have fast chargers or USB-C adapter for wired headphones.
Both of the iPhone models have pretty much the same features. Body and screen sizes are the only notable difference between them.
Price of iPhone XS: $1,000 (Rs. 72,645)
Price of iPhone XS Max: 1,100 (Rs. 79,909)
4. Samsung Galaxy Note 9
This is probably the best Samsung phone so far. It features a big 6.4 display that looks amazing with the technology of Samsung.
And along with its impressive specs, it is a multitasking machine and also a veritable productivity. The S Pen stylus is also a great tool for you to take notes and keep users organized. And it also offers precision that you can find in a regular computer.
For the price of $1,000 which is significantly lower than the iPhone XS and XS Max, it could be a much better choice with a much lower price.
Price of Samsung Galaxy Note 9: $1,000 (Rs. 72,645)
3. Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL
They are also running Google’s Android, which is a well-designed and clean operating system. And the Google Pixels are generally the first to get the updates of Android. This is something that most of the phone model running Android can’t beat.
The Pixel 3 has dual-lense selfie cameras, each lens has its own function as one is for ultra-wide angle selfies and the other lens just regular selfies.
However, its price is a bit higher than expected so I put it in the 3rd position of this list.
Between two Pixel models, the two most notable differences are the front design and the display size. While the Pixel 3 XL has a notched design, the Pixel 3 has a more traditional phone design. Actually, the Pixel 3 XL has one of the worst notches on this list, but just like other notch, users will get used to it eventually. I would say you would regret ignoring it just for its notch.
Price of Pixel 3: $800 (Rs. 58,116)
Price of Pixel 3 XL: Rs. $900 (Rs. 65,380)
2. iPhone XR
The iPhone XR is claimed by many people to be more appealing than the more expensive iPhone models - iPhone XS and XS Max.
You will have very similar experience as the iPhone XS and XS Max in most the aspects. Obviously, there are a few things that the iPhone XS can be superior compared to the iPhone Xr, such as,a dual-lens camera, OLED display to only LCD display in iPHone XR, and also thinner bezels. But I wouldn’t say you should pay $250 more just for those better features.
At the price of $750, it offers a great deal for an iPhone with latest specs and also a big screen.
Price of iPhone XR: $750 (Rs. 54,484)
1. OnePlus 6T
The OnePlus 6T may not have as many features as other smartphones in the list, for example, official water resistance rating, wireless charging, ultra-wide angle lenses or dedicated zoom, or 1440p display. But it still earns the first position in the list.
The main reason is that it does a very good job in other aspects that it has. Things like taking photos, good design, running Android and apps, quick charge and also higher battery life. And the impressive thing is that it offers all of that with just $550, much lower than $700+ prices of other phones in this list.
I personally never missed other features from more expensive flagships while I use the 6T. If I was looking for a phone, this phone would be one of the top choices for its impressive performance, value, and design as well.
Price of OnePlus 6T: $550 (Rs. 39,955)
