Apple has announced the new iPhone 12 lineup without the charger or the Lightning EarPods in the retail box. This move, according to the tech giant, is aimed to reduce the impact on the environment. Instead, users will get only a USB-C to Lightning cable.

Apple said that this means it uses less raw material for each shipped iPhone. This also allows users to get a smaller retail box, meaning more box units can be stacked in one transport unit, which drives down the CO2 emission.
Previously, reports on this change faced heavy criticism on the Internet, with several people saying it’s more related to increasing profits for Apple and decreasing the transportation cost rather than protecting the environment. However, regardless of the company’s motive, we cannot deny that this action will likely help decline the amount of electronic waste.

As part of its announcements, Apple revealed that there are now 700 million of its Lightning EarPods and 2 billion power adapters around the world. This implies that most people will not lack these components.
During the 1.5-hour virtual event hosted last night, Apple unveiled four new iPhones in total. These include the standard iPhone 12, the higher-end Pro, Pro Max, and a smaller version of the standard model called iPhone 12 Mini. While the iPhone 12 sports dual rear cameras, the higher-end versions come with three cameras. And the Mini version offers the same features as the iPhone 12 but in a thinner, smaller, and lighter body.
