According to new research conducted by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP), the more affordable device in the latest iPhone series, the iPhone XR, is reportedly the best selling phone on the market in the US for Q2 2019.
However, even with the iPhone XR’s success, the CIRP report still claims that if this trend continues, the low price tag of the XR will probably bring down the average selling price (ASP) to $800 (around Rs. 56,000).
In the last quarter, the variants with higher storage increased the ASP (average selling price). In comparison, the storage updates on Q1's last year occupied 33 percent of the total sales while the figure was 38 percent in Q1 this year. In this case, the average selling price might go up to $800.
The revenue from services seems to be pretty steady still. About 21 percent of iPhone users in the US paid for Apple Music, nearly half of them paid for iCloud services, and 13 percent of them are using the iTunes music service. However, that is not the case for the AppleCare as it is not that widely used at all.
To recall, the iPhone XR was among the latest iPhone lineup launched October last year alongside iPhone XS and XS Max. Up front, it has an 6.1-inch IPS LCD panel with HD+ (1,792 x 828p) resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Powering the phone is an Apple-made A12 Bionic built on the 7nm process, paired with 3GB of RAM and 64/128/256GB of storage. As usual, there isn’t any micro-SD card slot for users to expand the device’s storage. As for software, it of course still runs iOS 12 and gets the latest update whenever Apple rolls out one.
In terms of camera, it has a 12MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture with PDAF, iOS, HDR, and a quad-LED dual-tone flash. For selfies, there is a 7MP selfie shooter with f/2.2 aperture.
