On October 8, Sharp introduced its new Sharp S7 for the Japanese market. The phone is a rebranded version of Sharp Aquos Sense 3 Lite with several latest hardware features such as a big 4,000mAh battery and a power-efficient screen. The brand also claimed that the phone is able to last up to one week with only one charge.
Judging from the phone's antenna lines, we speculate that it comes with a metal rear cover, which has not been seen for years as most smartphone manufacturers switched to use glass cover. The device measures 147x70x8.9mm and is 167g in weight.
It sports a 5.5-inch 1,080 x 2,160-pixel IGZO LCD display. The panel features the company’s IGZO LCD energy-efficient tech, which makes the battery be able to last up to a week, according to the company. Also, the power-saving Snapdragon 630 chipset coupled with 3GB RAM also contributes tothe impressive battery efficiency.
On the back, the phone has a dual-camera module including a 12-megapixel sensor with an aperture of f/2.0 and EIS; and an 8-megapixel f/2.2 front-facing sensor. The phone also comes with AI-backed features for better camera experience.
In terms of software, the phone runs Android 10 at launch and the brand claims that the phone will have a big Android update within at least 24 months. Also, it will get security updates in 36 months once the day is unveiled. Additionally, the device is available in 3 color options including Gray, Peach and Silver in Japan in mid-Dec. So far, the pricing of the phone remains unknown.
The company has been well-known as a display manufacturer, however, it has been beaten by other rivals such as LG and Samsung. We wonder whether the brand’s power-saving panels are something that we could expect to see from other smartphone makers.
