The first 5G phones from Samsung just launched in May but have already sold 2 million units, according to the company’s executive. He predicted that this number would rise to 4 million by year-end.
Samsung Electronics’ senior VP of technology strategy JuneHee Lee said during Qualcomm’s keynote at IFA 2019 in Berlin, Germany:

5G is considered a game-changing tech that significantly boosts wireless networks’ coverage and speed. 5G can run from 10 to 100 times faster than the current 4G. Latency, which is the time between when your smartphone pings the network and the time it responds, will also be faster compared with Wi-Fi.
Samsung is among the few companies that release more than one 5G phone. As of IFA 2019 last week, it already had four 5G devices, including the Galaxy Fold 5G, the Galaxy Note 10 Plus 5G, the Galaxy S10 5G, and the Galaxy A90 5G.
While the Note 10 Plus 5G and the S10 5G are priced at Rs 93,140, the redesigned Galaxy Fold costs Rs 143,291 (in the South Korean market). The Galaxy A90, on the other hand, costs just Rs 59,250, making it one of the most affordable 5G phones available, especially in comparison with Samsung’s own 5G devices.

The Galaxy A90, now available in South Korea, will come to Europe next month, expected to attract consumers with interest in 5G but without the budget for premium handsets.
Notably, 2 million may seem many but this figure is, in fact, a tiny part of the total smartphone sales of the company. Just in 2019’s second quarter, Samsung shipped 76.3 million phones, as reported by Strategy Analytics. Samsung is the biggest phone maker in the world, with 22 percent market share, according to the firm.
