Samsung has finally launched the next generation of its Galaxy S series, including a total of four models from a new affordable model Galaxy S10e to a Galaxy S10 5G version. Besides the Galaxy S10 5G, the Galaxy S10+ is the top-end model packed with interesting features. As it is the successor to the last year’s Galaxy S9, it would be interesting to compare between the two phones to see how things have changed in the course of a generation.
Samsung Galaxy S10+ vs. Galaxy S9+: Price
Let’s start with the pricing of the two phones. While the base variant of the Galaxy S9+ with 6GB of RAM/64GB of storage costs Rs. 57,900, the options with 128GB storage and 256GB storage are priced at Rs. 61,900 and Rs. 65,900, respectively. The phone comes in Red, Blue, Purple, Black, Polaris Blue, and Sunrise Gold color variants.
Galaxy S10+'s Ceramic White and Black variants
Meanwhile, the Galaxy S10+ comes at a quite significantly higher price tag. The base option of the handset with 8GB of RAM/128GB of storage is already priced at Rs. 73,990. The model with 8GB of RAM/512GB of storage will set you back Rs. 91,900 while the one with 12GB of RAM/1TB of storage costs Rs. 1,17,900. The handset comes in a total of 5 five colour variants, including Prism Blue, Prism White, Prism Black, and two top-end variants: Ceramic White and Black.
Samsung Galaxy S10+ vs. Galaxy S9+: Specifications & Features
Moving to the specifications and features, we should expect a significant upgrade from the old generation to a newer one. And it is actually the case for the Galaxy S10+ as it is massively improved over its predecessor. The S10+ not only packs more powerful hardware but also features a new display, a new design, a larger display and also a triple rear camera setup as well as dual selfie cameras on the front.

Its design is a little bit refined, and Samsung also goes for a new camera placement on the S10+, with the selfie cameras locating on the front punch hole and rear camera setup stacked horizontally. Additionally, the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor on the S9+ is now replaced by an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor embedded in the display.
In terms of display, the Galaxy S10+ comes with a larger 6.4-inch QHD+ Curved Dynamic AMOLED panel with a punch hole on the top housing two selfie cameras - a 10MP sensor and an 8MP depth sensor. On the other hand, the Galaxy S9+ sports a 6.2-inch Quad-HD+ panel with bezels on the top and the bottom of the phone.
In the hardware department, the Galaxy S10+ is clearly the more powerful phone with the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 855 SoC or Samsung’s Exynos 9820 chipset under the hood, whereas the Galaxy S9+ is powered by a last year’s Exynos 9810 SoC or Snapdragon 845 SoC. The S10+ also comes with a significant improvement in terms of memory and RAM as it packs up to 1TB storage and 12GB RAM compared to the 256GB storage and 6GB RAM on the Galaxy S9+. Not only that, the S10+ is also the first phone to have that much internal storage in the world.
In the battery aspect, the Galaxy S10+ is also backed by a larger 4,100 mAh battery compared to Galaxy S9+ with a 3,500 mAh battery. Both still have an audio jack on the bottom as well as support for fast charging.
Moving to the imaging department, the Galaxy S10+ sports a triple camera setup on the rear and a dual selfie camera system on the front. The rear camera setup comprises of a 12MP main sensor with OIS, 77-degrees of view, and dual aperture. It is paired with a 12MP telephoto lens with OIS as well. The last one is a 16MP 123-degree ultra-wide camera. On the side of the S9+, it also sports the same 12MP sensor with a dual aperture, but it doesn’t have the ultra-wide one. Therefore, it’s unlikely for S9+ to reach the camera quality of the S10+.
I guess you can now figure out which phone is better for now. The Galaxy S10+ is undoubtedly the better choice between the two. The Galaxy S10 is also a great choice if you don’t mind the single selfie camera on the front and slightly smaller display.
