Samsung eliminated the budget Galaxy J series and replaced with the Galaxy M series. Therefore, currently, Samsung is now clearly positioned that the S and the Note series are premium models; the A series include near high-end devices, and the M series is a mid-range segment. However, compared to the Galaxy A or Galaxy S series, this year's Galaxy M is quite similar in terms of design and configuration. If the Galaxy J lineup previously had a rather "cheap" design, the current Galaxy M series is highly appreciated for design. Samsung Galaxy M20, the phone that we experience today is an example.
Samsung Galaxy M20: Design
The hansdet stands out with its perfect sleek finish. This type of design makes us mistake the device made of glass and metal frame, instead of plastic in fact. However, such a great finish also brings a high-end design and is preferred by users rather than a plastic look.
The smooth gloss layer on the Galaxy M20's back is so glassy that fingerprints can stick on it like glass. However, Samsung does not offer the phone in as many color options as many other budget phones. The device only comes in two color options including black and blue. Both are very elegant and suitable for the majority of users. It should be noted that the glossy paint makes the Galaxy M20 back scratched easily. However, these scratches are very small and no one will notice them unless you intentionally tilt the device in front of the light to see it.
The Galaxy M20 has a dual camera setup placed in the top left corner of the device, very close to the screen border. This design creates plenty of free space for the back and makes this back look "cleaner". In addition, the device's fingerprint sensor is also put on the back, which is a difference between the Galaxy M20 and M10. The fingerprint sensor position is a bit high, so it will take you a little while to get used to it.
The Galaxy M20's speaker is placed on the bottom edge, instead of the back like some other cheap smartphones. This is praiseworthy when it helps us still hear the sound when placing the device on the table. In particular, a great improvement of the Galaxy M20 is that the device uses USB Type-C port instead of Micro-USB. This is a small improvement but shows that the Galaxy M20 really caught up with the current technology trend, surpassing the "cheap" concept of the old Micro-USB port.
Regarding the front of the device, one of the highlights of the Galaxy M20 is its Infinity-V design. Screen edges are thin, balanced and beautiful. Other manufacturers call it a waterdrop screen. Most phones in the same segment do not have such a beautiful screen border like the Galaxy M20. It helps you get a great screen experience and a pretty neat design.
Samsung Galaxy M20 measures 156.4 x 74.5 x 8.8mm. The 8.8mm slim is an acceptable figure when the Galaxy M20 has a 5,000 mAh battery. The feeling when holding the phone is still very good with the curved back and compact size thanks to the thin screen border. In summary, Samsung has created a good design, high-end look, high finish and difference from the cheap smartphones on the current market.
Samsung Galaxy M20: Display
Samsung Galaxy M20 sports a 6.3-inch Infinity-V display. The most prominent feature of this screen is its Full HD+ resolution. In the past, in this Samsung's price range, you will only get HD+ display, so Full HD+ is a praiseworthy point for the Galaxy M20. The display is clearer and the quality is superior to the current cheap HD+ displays.
The panel that the Galaxy M20 uses is PLS, which is similar to an LCD IPS screen developed by Samsung itself. The maximum brightness is estimated at 400 nits, which is enough for the Galaxy M20 to display well outdoors. A notable detail is that the Galaxy M20 does not have a light sensor, perhaps because Samsung has exchanged it for a thin front edge. You need to manually adjust the brightness via a slider on the notification center. The minimum brightness is 3.1 nits, meaning the Galaxy M20 screen has a deep black color and helps you to use it well in the dark without causing blinding.
The color and contrast of the Galaxy M20 are very good in its price segment. Obviously, Samsung still proved its screen production ability, even in the middle-range segment. The images displayed on the phone are much more impressive with particularly vivid colors and high contrast. Combined with an attractive thin-edged display, you will feel the real difference in the viewing experience.
Summary
The design and screen of Samsung Galaxy M20 have erased user prejudices about Samsung phones in the low-end segment. Now we can have a mid-range phone with a rather perfect finish, beautiful design, USB Type-C port, and excellent Full HD+ Infinity-V screen. Obviously, the launch of quality products like the Galaxy M20 will make Samsung have a lot of advantages when competing with other Chinese brands in the cheap segment.
