Redmi Note 9 Pro With 6GB RAM & Android 10 Shows Up On Geekbench

Redmi Note 9 Pro won't come with a MediaTek chipset like its predecessor Redmi Note 8 Pro, but it will be a Qualcomm chipset, possibly the Snapdragon 720G.

Xiaomi India is expected to release the Redmi Note 9 series in India on 12 March. Because of the Coronavirus outbreak, the launch event will be live-streamed across the brand’s social channels instead of an offline event. Similar to its predecessor Redmi Note 8 series, this new series will likely include Redmi Note 9 & Redmi Note 9 Pro. With only a week until the official launch event, the Redmi Note 9 Pro has visited the benchmarking platform Geekbench. As usual, the listing gives us some key specs of the phone as usual.

According to the microsite of the Redmi Note 9 series on Amazon India, the handset will be driven by a powerful chipset. To recall, its predecessor Redmi Note 8 Pro was equipped with the Helio G90T SoC while the Redmi Note 8 got the processing power from a Snapdragon 665 chipset. However, that seems not to be the case for the new series as the Pro model is listed with a Qualcomm chipset on Geekbench. The chipset is codenamed ‘curtana’, which we have heard of before.

It could be the Snapdragon 720G SoC that Qualcomm announced earlier in the year in India. In addition, Realme has just released Realme 6 and Realme 6 Pro in India with the latter packing a Snapdragon 720G chipset.

The listing further reveals that the device will pack 6GB of RAM and boot Android 10 out of the box. In the single-core test, it achieved 569 points while it scored 1,755 points in the multi-core test. Interestingly, the Realme 6 Pro with 8GB of RAM was also listed on Geekbench 5 with similar scores. Other specs of the phone are currently unknown. However, the brand did tease several details such as a quad-camera cluster, "unmatched exhilarating fast charging", and "immersive gaming experience".
