Redmi Note 4 Amazon Review: Acceptable Upgrade Over The Redmi Note 3 Pro

Redmi Note 3 Pro is a very successful smartphone in the Indian market in 2016. With a price of only around Rs. 9,990, the Redmi Note 3 Pro has a monolithic aluminum design, large screen, good build quality, powerful hardware configuration, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and extremely good battery life. These factors make the Redmi Note 3 Pro easily the best affordable device in the budget segment. Recently, Xiaomi has officially entered the Indian market with the main product, the Redmi Note 4 Amazon. The handset is actually the Redmi Note 4X in other markets. The Redmi Note 4 price in India is Rs. 9,999.

The Redmi Note 4 was the successor of the Redmi Note 3 Amazon, which was initially announced in late 2015. The Redmi Note 3 Amazon became one of the best-selling smartphones in the Indian market in 2016.

In the Redmi Note 4 review, we will compare this device with the previous "king", Redmi Note 3 Pro, and let's see if the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 amazon can be a successful replacement of the Redmi Note 3 or not. Overall, we believe that the handset is a great upgrade over its predecessor, although there are several aspects that Xiaomi hasn't put too much work on it.

Redmi Note 4: Design

The back is still made of metal with two plastic pieces at both ends.

The Redmi Note 4 amazon is 8.4mm thin, while the Redmi Note 3 Pro is a bit thicker, 8.7mm.

Redmi Note 4: Display

The screens of the Redmi Note 3 Pro and the amazon Redmi Note 4 are both 5.5 inches in size and support Full HD resolution and IPS technology. One thing you need to know is that in the same Xiaomi lineup, there are several types of display, coming from different suppliers.

As for the Redmi Note 3 Pro, Xiaomi has used at least 3 types of display from 3 different manufacturers for this device, including Sharp, Tianma and BOE. Each display has a different display quality, of which some users think that one company's screen is more yellow (or blue) than the other. But since these are assumptions without any basis, consider it as a mystery.

Redmi Note 4: Performance

Xiaomi uses the Snapdragon 625 chipset on the Redmi Note 4 Amazon and that has disappointed some users because it is a step back from the Snapdragon 650 chipset on the Redmi Note 3 Pro. This is clearly shown in the benchmark results when the Redmi Note 4 shows a 20 to 30% lower performance than the Redmi Note 3 Pro.

However, in real-life experience, Redmi Note 4 Amazon still gives very good performance and the difference is not much compared to Redmi Note 3 Pro. Combined with up to 4GB of RAM, most of the basic tasks on the Redmi Note 4 is done quickly and smoothly.

Although Xiaomi did not give a reason why it chose a weaker chipset on the Redmi Note 4, it is likely that the Snapdragon 650 has reached the end of its lifespan and Qualcomm has stopped supplying to partners, while equipping Snapdragon 653 is impossible due to the high cost, especially for a budget device. Therefore, it can be said that Snapdragon 625 is the best (and also the only) choice that Xiaomi has.

Another upgrade of the phone is the fingerprint sensor, which has faster recognition speed and is noticeably better than the Redmi Note 3 Pro. The fingerprint sensor of the Redmi Note 3 Pro is already quite fast, yet on the Redmi Note 4, it is even faster. Just touch the sensor and the device immediately unlocked - very impressive.

Redmi Note 4: Battery life

If the Snapdragon 625 of the Redmi Note 4 amazon is inferior in terms of performance compared to the Snapdragon 650 of the Redmi Note 3 Pro, then it offers a great advantage of battery life. Due to being manufactured on a 14nm process, the Snapdragon 625 has significantly lower power consumption than the Snapdragon 650 (28nm). Combined with the "4,100mAh" capacity, the Redmi Note 4 battery life is very good.

Certainly, users will be able to use this device comfortably within a day. On average, the on-screen time I get is up to 8-9 hours for everyday tasks (taking calls, texting, browsing web / social networking, watching videos, and listening to music). Meanwhile with the Redmi Note 3 Pro, also with those tasks, the on-screen time I achieved was only about 6-7 hours.

Redmi Note 4: Camera

With cheap devices, manufacturers are forced to cut down in certain aspects. For the Redmi Note 3 Pro, when the device has a solid aluminum shell, a strong configuration, a large screen, a beefy battery, and a fingerprint sensor, the only remaining factor that Xiaomi will be forced to cut is its cameras. In fact, when it comes to specs, the Redmi Note 3 Pro's camera is not bad with a 16MP sensor, f / 2.0 lens, and two-tone LED flash. However, its image quality is still pretty bad.

On the handset, Xiaomi made some adjustments when using a different sensor with a lower 13MP resolution. However, that is not a drawback as the image quality of Redmi Note 4 amazon India is improved, although not by a massive margin. 

Losing a bit of performance, in return, the Redmi Note 4 amazon receives upgrades in design, battery life, fingerprint sensor, and camera. These are all very valuable and important upgrades to the user experience.

However, the factor that users expect an upgrade is the camera has not improved significantly. But if you're a less demanding person, apart from the Redmi Note 4, you'll be left with not a lot of choices to find a better one.
