Realme 1 fast charging ability is a handy feature but not many people know about it. On May 25, 2018, Realme launched its first phone in India as OPPO’s sub-brand dubbed the Realme 1. Since the phone came to the market almost a year ago, some of you may have been familiar with it, but some maybe not if you didn’t know about this brand at the time it was introduced. In general, as an entry-level device, we can confidently say that Realme 1 is a decent device. But today, a lot of phones support fast charging, those who didn’t know this phone well may have questions about Realme 1 fast charging.
But first…
What are the specs of Realme 1?
The handset measures 156.5 x 75.2 x 7.8 mm in dimensions, with a weight of 155g. The phone’s front is protected with glass while the body comes with a plastic cover. Also, this is a dual-SIM smartphone with a Nano-SIM and dual standby.
It features a 6.0-inch LCD capacitive touchscreen, with a screen-to-body ratio of 78.9 percent and a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. The display touts 402 ppi density and is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, and of course, Realme 1 fast charging ability is also on the list.

In terms of operation, the Realme 1 packs a 12nm chipset from MediaTek, called the MT6771 Helio P60. In addition, it houses an octa-core CPU, which includes four 2.0 GHz Cortex-A73 chips and four 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 chips, as well as a GPU dubbed Mali-G72 MP3. The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with the ColorOS 5.2 on top.
The device’s internal memory has three variants, namely 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB, corresponding to RAM of 3GB, 4GB, and 6GB respectively. Besides the internal storage, the mid-range smartphone also supports external microSD card of up to 256GB with a dedicated card slot on the side.
Regarding photography capabilities, the Realme 1 sports two cameras in total. The main camera lies on the back of the phone, next to the LED flash. Its resolution is 13 megapixels and the aperture is f/2.2. The rear cam comes with HDR mode and panorama, the common features in every camera today. It also supports video quality of 1080p at 30 frames per second. The second one is a single 8MP selfie camera on the front of the phone with an aperture of f/2.2.
Furthermore, the Realme 1 features a loudspeaker, of course, and a 3.5mm headphone jack, like in most smartphones, and a dedicated microphone with active noise cancellation. The device also houses some essential sensors which are a compass, proximity, gyro, and accelerometer.
The Realme 1 is available with three color variants, which are Moonlight Silver, Solar Red, and Diamond Black.
Realme 1 Battery And Charging Capability
We have set this part alone as it’s the main point of this article and probably what you care the most when reading this. Here we will answer all the questions you may have in mind about the phone’s battery and charging.
How large is it?
The device houses a Li-Ion 3410mAh battery, which seems like an average and adequate compared with the majority of these days’ smartphones.
How does it perform?
If we had to sum up the performance of Realme 1 battery in one word, it would be “good,” and here’s why.
If it starts off at 8 AM with a full charge (100 percent), you may find yourself not having to recharge it for the entire day and only have to plug it in when you finally get in bed to sleep at around midnight.
This works for a usual day of a normal user, involving basic tasks like making and receiving calls, browsing webs, messaging, watching YouTube videos, and playing several games like PUBG and Skyforce. For gamers, the Realme 1 fast charging ability is definitely a plus.

In another test, it could survive for 79 hours maximum, which is respectable. In particular, the battery can survive 26 hours and 7 minutes of talking via 3G networks, 14 hours and 15 minutes of web browsing, and 10 hours and 13 minutes of video playback.
Obviously, the battery does a decent job of such heavy use throughout the day. However, unlike most phones, the Realme 1 doesn’t show a graph to indicate how the battery charges/discharges over time, not featuring information such as screen time.
This may cause some difficulties for users to keep track of how they are draining the phone’s power and adjust their habit while using the device to make the best out of its battery.

What is the Realme 1 charger?
When unboxing the phone, you can easily spot the charger of this smartphone, which is a regular 2-pin charger (5V-2A), and a micro-USB cable to use for charging or transferring data from your phone to another device that has a USB port. Some people may expect that the Realme 1 fast charging ability will come with some special equipment, but it is not.

Does Realme 1 support fast charging?
No, unfortunately. The phone has certain specifications that only came to flagship phones at the time, but there’s nothing called Realme 1 fast charging support. What that means is that while the device may survive for an entire day of heavy use, it also takes a long time to recharge the phone.
Charging test
The phone has features that the company touted a lot, but we also noticed that it barely talked about charging, because it charges slowly. Because is Realme 1 support fast charging? Nope.
Days after the launch of the phone, there was already a charging test surfacing on YouTube. In particular, the tester charged the Realme 1 with a fast charger (9V-2A), using another phone as the timekeeper.
The phone was plugged in at 2 percent of power left in its battery. It took 15 minutes for the phone’s battery to go from 2 percent to 17 percent. Then at 30 minutes, the phone had recharged to 30 percent battery. After another 15 minutes, the tester checked again and it had gone up to 45 percent.
As the test went on, it showed that it took 60 minutes to charge 60 percent of the phone’s battery. When the counter has crossed the 90-minute mark, the device managed to take in 82 percent of its battery. After 120 minutes, the phone had recharged 95 percent of the total battery capacity. As the number got closer to 100, it took longer to charge, from the 80 percent mark, it took a total of 50 minutes to finish charging, a proof of Realme 1 fast charging ability.

In another test, it took the Realme 1 more than 2 hours to charge from 10 percent to 100 percent, which was consistent with the test we mentioned above. Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 5 Pro, with a 4000mAh battery, took about the same time to fully charge. And the ZenFone Max Pro with a 5000 mAh battery took less than 2 hours to fully recharge.
All in all, if you wonder if the Realme 1 supports fast charging, the answer is No. Hence, if we put the phone side by side with other phones in terms of charging time, it will fall far behind.
However, if fast charging is somewhat important to you, and Realme 1 fast charging is not an option.
