The Snapdragon 460, Snapdragon 662, and Snapdragon 720G are three new chipsets that Qualcomm has just announced in India.

Yesterday, Qualcomm has just launched three new chipset models at a media event held in New Delhi, India. This trio includes gaming-centric Snapdragon 720G, mid-range Snapdragon 662 and low-end Snapdragon 460.

Snapdragon 720G (SM7125)

The Snapdragon 720G is an upgraded version of Snapdragon 710 & Snapdragon 712. The chipset is equipped with 8 processing cores, including two high-performance Kryo 465 cores (based on Cortex-A76) with 2.3GHz and 6 GHz and six Kryo 260 energy-efficient cores (based on Cortex-A55) clocked @ 1.8GHz.

In case you don't know, the G suffix in the name of the Snapdragon 720G stands for Gaming. This is a processor optimized for gaming, incorporating Qualcomm's Elite Gaming features like HDR and apt-X Adaptive.

The Snapdragon 720G also has an Adreno 618 GPU just like the Snapdragon 730, supporting  Vulkan 1.1 & OpenGL ES 3.2. It is integrated with Qualcomm's Hexagon 692 DSP and a Spectra 350L image signal processor, supporting satellite navigation system with the Indian Constellation (NavIC).

In terms of connectivity, this chipset has a Snapdragon X15 LTE modem with a maximum download speed of up to 800Mbps, supports Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi 6, and USB 3.1. Besides, the Snapdragon 720G also supports the UFS 2.1 storage and up to 8GB RAM, up to 2520 x 1080 pixel resolution at 90Hz and 120Hz refresh rate with HDR10 and QC 4.0 fast charging.=

Snapdragon 662 (SM6115)

Speaking of processing power, it is possible to put Snapdragon 662 between Snapdragon 660 & Snapdragon 665. Qualcomm stated that this is the first chip in the 600 series to support image storage in HEIF format, allowing high-quality photography with only half the size.

Snapdragon 662 is manufactured on 11nm process, has 4 cores of Cortex-A73 2.0GHz and 4 cores of Cortex-A53 1.8GHz, integrated Adreno 610 GPU, Hexagon 683 AIE DSP and Spectra 340T image signal processor.

The chipset supports only Full HD + (2220 x 1080 pixels) displays with a 60Hz refresh rate, eMMC and UFS 2.1 storage. It uses the Snapdragon X11 LTE modem with download speeds of up to 390Mbps, upload speeds of 150Mbps and also supports Wi-Fi 6, dual frequency GPS, Bluetooth 5.1, QC 3.0 and NavIC.

Snapdragon 460 (SM4250-AA)

Basically, the Snapdragon 460 is considered as the successor of the Snapdragon 450. Therefore, we will see this chipset appear on budget smartphones in the segment of around Rs. 10,000. According to Qualcomm, it has twice the performance of its predecessor, the Snapdragon 450.

Snapdragon 460 is manufactured on 11nm process, has 8 cores Cortex-A73 1.8GHz, combined with Adreno 610 GPU and supports Vulkan 1.1. The chipset supports displays with up to 2220 x 1080 pixels resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate, as well as eMMC and UFS 2.1 memory. It has Hexagon 683 AIE DSP and Spectra 340 ISP to support HEIF photography.

The Snapdragon 460 is Qualcomm’s first 400 series processor to feature the company's FastConnect 6100, providing higher performance & better battery life. It also supports Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi 6, and has a Snapdragon X11 LTE modem that offers the same upload / download speed as the Snapdragon 662. Besides, this chipset also supports dual frequency GPS and NavIC. , and quick charge QC 3.0.
